TAHOE is the moniker chosen for this bar. Exceptional skiing and the West:

-The Tahoe Basin of California with the phenomenal expert skiing ("KT-22") of Squaw Valley and the easy off-piste skiing among trees and unique apres-ski scene of Heavenly. Also in California, Mammoth known for its long season accompanied by gloriously sunny springlike weather has some of the deepest snow in the Sierra Nevada.

- Mt. Bachelor, Oregon, with it's high desert location...that means light, fluffy, dry snow.

- Sun Valley, Idaho, has an understated elegance and spectacular long flowing runs surrounded by Idaho's Sawtooth range.

- "The Greatest Snow on Earth", Utah. Park City, host of the 2002 Winter Olympics and Snowbird, known for the steep and deep.

Snowy Owls (Nyctea scandiaca)

The Snowy Owl inhabits the remote, harsh world of the Arctic tundra between the northern pack ice and the boreal forest to the south. During a shortage of prey such as lemmings and voles in the north, Snowy Owls head south, hunting from coast to coast in southern Canada and the northern United States. At times, and especially if prey is abundant, some snowies nest and raise their young in southern regions and remain there year-round.

This is the largest predatory bird in the Arctic. Adult male Snowy Owls are almost pure white…females and the young have variable bars of brown and grey and, apart from white on the face and breast, have a drabber, grey look.

Normally silent, they utter a loud “know-ow” in flight.

They are crepuscular (at twilight or just before sunrise) in habit, but will hunt in daylight in the Arctic summer.

Snowy Owls have no need for comfort.
